Browns’ next priority is landing new quarterback, owner Jimmy Haslam says

The Browns made a big move in their front office this week with the firing of Sashi Brown and a quick hire of John Dorsey in an attempt to turnaround a franchise heading in the wrong direction, but that’s not the only change Cleveland is looking to make.

“This is a quarterback-driven league. We all know that and we all know, to succeed and to go a little bit farther and farther and farther, you need one of those guys,” Dorsey said. “So I think it’s an evaluation period that’s going to take a little bit to put a plan together.”

With the NFL Draft just over four months away, and free agency three months away, Dorsey said, “We have ample time to make a plan here.”

One advantage Dorsey will have in landing a franchise quarterback is the amount of salary-cap space he inherits from the previous administration. The Browns will also have five draft picks in the first and second rounds.

A 38-yard pass from Cousins to Jamison Crowder was by far the biggest play of the game at that point, setting up Washington at the Giants’ 39-yard line at the two-minute warning. However, a series of drops stalled the drive and Washington punted from that position.

Giants 3, Washington 0: New York got back into Washington’s side of the field as linebacker Zach Brown went down with an injury. They moved further into scoring position and we finally got the first points of the game when the Giants nailed a 30-yard field goal.

The other three playoff teams each have one player on the first team, all on the defensive side. No. 3 Georgia, which faces Oklahoma in the Northwestern Mutual Rose Bowl semifinal on Jan. 1, is represented by linebacker Roquan Smith. mariners_753
