The Washington Wizards are on a mission.
Bradley Beal scored 21 points, hitting a clutch 3-pointer and a free throw down the stretch, to help the Wizards hang on for a 107-104 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night.
Otto Porter Jr. added 17 points and Markieff Morris 14 for Washington which stayed hot after snapping the Philadelphia 76ers’ seven-game winning streak Sunday with a 109-94 victory.
The Bucks nearly stormed back from a 93-76 deficit with 6:34 left. Indiana committed four turnovers during a 12-0 Milwaukee run that tightened what looked to be a blowout.
“We had some turnovers late in the game, a little careless with the ball,” Pacers coach Nate McMillan said. “You have to value every possession.”
Oladipo hit a runner in the lane with 1:13 left for a 98-92 lead to slow Milwaukee’s momentum. He also scored six straight Indiana points during a 14-1 spurt in the third that helped the Pacers build a double-digit edge in the fourth.
Orlando (19-43) ended a seven-game losing streak by impressively closing out a 115-106 overtime win over the Detroit Pistons on Friday. The Magic stopped their fourth losing streak of at least seven games by outscoring Detroit 22-7 in the final 10:57 of the game.
“We have the talent to win and I want this team to think we’re going to win,” Thomas said afterward. “We have the players in this locker room to win and the only thing we should be thinking about is trying to take that next step — and that’s get to the playoffs.”
Julius Randle added 25 points, Brandon Ingram added 19, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 18 and Kyle Kuzma finished with 16 points for the Lakers as they won in Miami for the first time since Feb. 10, 2008. Los Angeles shot 59 percent and made 16 of 29 from 3-point range.
The Lakers have won 16 of their past 23 games and have already eclipsed their win total from all of last season. Los Angeles has captured three straight games on the road.
